This type of filtration – which requires the use of adjuvants like diatomaceous earth
as a filtration support, is particularly suitable for roughing and processing the lees after fermentation.
The Spadoni DCBL horizontal plate filter (F-16) is the first in its category with a rod and a shock- absorbing tilting system that allows for easy and safe removal of the filtration bell. And it is exactly through the patented tilting system, in fact, that the Spadoni DCBL filter can offer quick and easy cleaning and maintenance: all it’s needed is to remove the clamped lid and clean the filter pack, with a minimum amount of water.

Operating principles: In continuous flooding filters with horizontal plates, the filtration of the liquid occurs when the liquid is passed through filtering plates with large pores coated with sticky substances that further reduce the pore’s size thus performing the filtering action.

Amongst the most common sticky substances we find cellulose and rock or silicate powders.

Characteristics of Horizontal plate filter
The device is built entirely of 18-10 stainless steel (AISI 304) with filter discs in stainless steel Reps fabric; electric pump, stainless steel pipes and valves, diaphragm pump for dosing diatomaceous earth, recovery of the residual liquid through the last filter disc, quick and easy cleaning of the filter pack, without disassembling the pipes. In detail: mobile unit arranged on wheels made entirely of 18-10 stainless steel (AISI 304); disc filter elements in stainless steel reps fabric, induction-welded on the circumferences; stainless steel tank for the introduction of dry diatomaceous earth; diaphragm-type metering pump, to allow the constant, regular and continuous addition of diatomaceous earth in the incoming liquid stream, for the entire duration of the filtration, and suitable for stirring and mixing the diatomaceous earth in the large tank feeding pump in stainless steel 18-10 (AISI 304) with mechanical seal and combined electric motor; set of pipes complete with 18-10 stainless steel (AISI 304) butterfly type valves with inlet, outlet and taps for self-emptying and sampling; group for venting the filter air; illuminated sight glasses, to check on the incoming and outgoing liquid; residual liquid recovery system through the last disc, supported by the same feed pump or by gas; electrical and control equipment compliant with safety standards; pressure control gauge at the inlet, built-in graduated flow meter in hl/h, control lights at the inlet of the slurry and at the outlet of the filtrate.
